INTEGRATED BUS TERMINAL
Integrated bus terminal is a transportation hub which helps the users to travel one place to another effectively and it enables the efficiency of the bus and connectivity. Integrated bus terminal provides various modes of transportation allowing to travel easily between modes. These terminal holds a large number of users and it need to provide an effective solution for them. The integrated bus terminal should act as a comfortable space as well as an entertainment space where users will spend their time on while waiting for their buses.

The site is located in the outer side of the city (Trichy) where the aim is to design an integrated bus terminal for the people living in the city. The site has totally eight entry where four entry/exit for buses and four entry/exit for users. The parking spaces are accessible from the every entry. And there are three major users (mofussil bus users, local bus users, and private bus users) and several connecting bus users. The bus terminal is divided into three zones (mofussil bus zone, local bus zone, and private bus zone) each and every zones are interconnected the passengers can easily access these zones with out any confussions. And the bus terminal is located center of the site from there people can access any space easily. The local bus zone is located near the main road because bus will not wait for long and it has to reach the next bus stop on time.
The mofussil bus zone is located in the southwest side because the mofussil bus zone has the maximum buses where these buses will start at a specific time. And in mofussil bus area is one of the most crowded area so it has multiple platforms to divide the crowd. The third zone is for the private bus which is also a long travelling bus but maximum buses only travel at night so it is placed on the back side of the site. The site also has play area and park where passengers can spend time in case of any delay of the buses. From the park and play area people also can visibly see the mofussil zone and local buses zone so the passengers can see that if their buses are getting ready or not.
In north east direction services such as waste management and electrical sub stations are provided the predominant wind direction is from northwest to south east so the foul smell from the waste management will not affect the school area. And the electrical line is located to the parallel side of the road from the sub station is easy to access the main electrical line and the sub station is also located on the corner side so it is not easy to access the electrical line for the students. The roads are covered all over the site and the road width is 10m so it is easy for the fire truck to cover all over the site in case of fire. The existing features of the site such as trees, flood water drainage and sewage management is not wasted the school is designed in a way to not cut down any trees and the playground is located in the south western side since the flood water drainage is located in the western side so the rain water can easily drain to the flood water drainage and for the sewage management there is an underground line going on between north side road and compound wall which is directly connected to the line. For play school parent’s can drop their childrens in the play school since the play school is so close to the parking. And there is a sit out space is provided so they can relax and wait of their children. From the sit-out space they even see how their children are doing and interact with them.
Space frame :
The main block of the bus stop is a located in the center of the site which also act as a connection space in between all the space. And it also has an entertainment space and a meeting point. The space frame structure is provided directly above the food court and it also positioned to avoid the direct sunlight. Since it is a large space it also helps on the load distribution efficiently with minimal internal supports which also connects people with outside and provide Beautyful scenes while raining and sun sets.
Tensile structure :
The tensile structure is provided in the platforms and play area. Since it is a public building tensile structures helps for low maintanence and easy to assemble. The tensile structure will also provides the creative and visually apealing design. The materials used for tensile structure can also play with light.
